CybertronPC Palladium RX-480M Gaming Desktop Review
When it comes to your search for the best gaming desktop under $1000, the CybertronPC Palladium RX-480M just manages to squeak into the category by the skin of its teeth. What do you get for your hard earned cash?
A rugged looking Corsair mid-tower (16.8” high) gaming case with a six fin grille below a 24x DVD dual layer RW drive. The grille takes up two thirds of the front of the case and partially covers a transparent window to the inside of the case. Most of the left side panel is also transparent. The case interior is lit by red LEDs that provide a suitable menacing glow without being too bright. The top edge of the case is angled, silver and provides USB connectors, audio jacks and the power switch. The power supply is 500 W which leaves a lot of headroom for expansion.
This beast is powered by an Intel i7-6700 4 core CPU running at 3.4 GHz with a turbo boost of just over 4 GHz. This is fed by 16GB of DDR 4 RAM (faster than DDR 3). Video is supplied by an overclockable AMD Radeon RX-480 GPU with 4GB of GDDR5 video RAM. Storage is a 1TB HDD. There is a 1 Gigabit Ethernet connection for wired networking – wireless will require you to get a wireless card or USB dongle. There are four fast USB 3 ports and four USB 2 ports, providing more than enough peripheral connectivity. The system comes supplied with a standard keyboard and mouse. Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64 bit edition is pre-installed.
This system supplies some of the latest and greatest gaming hardware and maximises the performance that you can get from your $1000 investment in your gaming pleasure.
